Native Scholarships and Funding

There are hundreds of thousands of dollars in aid available for Native American Students.

FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov) The Free Application for Federal Student Aid gives grants, loans, and work-study money for students with financial need. Fill this form out after January 1, but before March 1 of the year you are to begin attending Montana State University

Native American College Funding Guide (http://www.montana.edu/admissions/images/NativeAmericanScholarshipGuide.pdf) A PDF that will give you step-by-step instructions on how to apply for financial aid at Montana State University

Higher Education Scholarships (http://www.montana.edu/admissions/images/NatlMinorityScholarshipList.pdf) A PDF of nearly 100 scholarships awarded to Native American and minority students

Phyllis Berger Memorial Scholarship Awarded by the Native American Studies Department to one freshman, one transfer, and one Masters Native American student, regardless of major. Contact the Native American Studies department at (406) 994-3884 for an application

College of Engineering (http://www.coe.montana.edu/scholarships.html) The College of Engineering, through the Engineering Minority Program (EMPower) offers scholarships for incoming freshman Native students. Be sure to sure send in the application before the February 1 deadline!

Montana Indian Tuition Waiver (http://www.montana.edu/wocheai/fee%20waiver.pdf) The Montana Tuition waiver is open to eligible Montana resident freshman and transfer students. You must demonstrate financial need and be at least ¼ or more Indian blood.

Tribal Homelands Scholarship (http://www.montana.edu/admissions/images/HomelandsScholarshipInfoSheet.pdf) The Tribal Homeland Scholarhsip is open to eligible non-resident Native American new freshmen and transfer students who are interested in attending MSU and whose tribal affiliation once called the Montana area their "Homelands."
