- Welcome and Announcements
- In April, campus partners and the Office of Sustainability will host several events connecting students with sustainability-related curricular and extracurricular opportunities. Those events include a Lunch and Learn with the Center for Faculty Excellence, a breakfast with Sustainable Foods and Bioenergy Systems, a networking night with the Bracken Center, and a meeting with the Campus Climate Coalition.
- In addition, ASMSU Senator Stella Rapson is drafting a resolution related to sustainability at Montana State University and may reach out to members of CSAC for collaboration and feedback.
- Public Comment
- Paul Lachapelle: Recommended updating the CSAC webpage so minutes from 2020 and 2021 remain publicly accessible.
- Office of Sustainability: Provide an overview of tools, programs, and institutional
resources available to support the incoming Director of Sustainability
- The CSAC SharePoint folder is collecting materials to support the incoming Director of Sustainability. Examples include the current definition of sustainability in the curriculum, documentation of sustainability-focused courses identified through STARS reporting, and examples of sustainability-related communications and relationships across campus. Members were encouraged to continue adding materials to the SharePoint folder.
- CSAC Working Session: Assess Charter, examine Strategic Plan developments and identify
opportunities for future alignment
- Reporting tools like the Zero Waste Report and the STARS report are examples of how CSAC and the Office of Sustainability measure progress toward fulfilling the Sustainability Framework. Complex examples, like the new Greenhouse Gas Reporting page, highlight the importance of clear communication from the office to students, faculty, and staff. During the next reporting cycle, the OS will begin improving how sustainability-related courses are identified and communicated.
- Working Group Updates
- The Zero Waste Working Group shared several programs currently underway in the Office of Sustainability, including the second campus Move-Out Thrift sale and a new Zero Waste resource on Canvas for faculty and staff. This optional Canvas module would include descriptions of sustainability reporting, zero waste practices, and other sustainability-related classes.
- The Scope 1 and 2 Communications group requested feedback after last month’s presentation and is preparing another presentation describing bundles of strategies that could be paired to mitigate Scope 2 emissions.
- Adjournment
