STATE CHAMPION 4-H CARCASS LAMB
Riston Mikkeslson awarded 4-H Lamb Carcass State Champion by Brent Roeder MSU Sheep Specialist
Small county population with large abilities and hearts. Congratulations go out to Riston Mikkelson. Out of nearly 200 entries state-wide, Riston took home the state champion title in 4-H Carcass Lamb. Thank you and congrats to Riston all those that helped Riston achieve this goal. Keep up the great work!
BEEF WEIGH-IN DEADLINE
If you are enrolled in a beef market project take note of the date: January 15, 2020. This is the deadline for turning in your info on tagged, weighed and photographed beef animals. If you haven’t received your tags check in with your leaders or contact the office.
STANFORD SCRAMBLERS JANUARY MEETING
The Stanford Scramblers meeting is tentatively set for January 2, 2020 in Great Falls. This is for the Flipping Family Fun meeting. Contact Kirstie Fiedler for complete information.
MONTANA WINTER FAIR
The Montana Winter Fair is scheduled for January 18—26, 2020 at the Fergus County Fairgrounds in Lewistown, MT. There will be two new events this year: Ag Ambassador Contest and Livestock Judging. The Livestock Judging will begin at 8:00 am with check-in at 7:30 am at the Pavilion. The Ag Ambassador Contest is at the Ag Building at 8:00 am and check-in is at 7:30 am on January 25, 2020. If you are interested in attending contact the JBC Extension office for registration forms. Registrations are due January 10, 2020.

REC LAB 2020
Rec Lab is very close to home this year. Rec Lab for 2020 will take place April 24th - 26th at Hobson, MT. Get ready for a fun filled time!

The plan is to have a Western Heritage, Shotgun, and Muzzle-loading Training later in the Spring when the weather clears up. This is planned to take place at Manhattan Wildlife Association in Logan, MT as all of the equipment is there. As it gets closer, we will get the information out as we receive it.
THE SUSAN DUFNER SCHOLARSHIP

CITIZENSHIP WASHINGTON FOCUS (CWF)
Have you thought about a trip to Washington, D.C.? During a week in June you have the chance to experience our nation's capital, meet your legislators, and meet 4-Hers from around the country. During this week-long trip, delegates have the opportunity to tour the Smithsonian and the National monuments as well as visit with Montana Senators and Representatives. Montana delegates travel as a group with two adult chaperones. If your current 4-H age is 14-19 you are eligible to attend. Applications are due January 15, 2020. Watch for more info in following Newsletters.
LEADERSHIP WASHINGTON FOCUS (LWF)
For those 4-Hers that aren’t old enough for the CWF trip there is the Leadership Washington Focus trip to consider. For those 4-Hers in 7-9th grades you may apply for LWF. This is designed to build confidence in their abilities to motivate and direct others in meaningful action, practice effective communication with others through group discussion and public speaking. Work with others to create and accomplish goals, develop an understanding of their own personal leadership style. Applications are due January 15, 2020. These Washington Focus trips usually take place in July
4-H & FFA KMON JUDGING CONTEST
Registration is open now for the KMON Judging Contest. Registration will be through judingcard.com. Both your username and password are MT10 followed by your county number. The contest takes place January 17-18, 2019 in Great Falls. This year a poultry judging contest has been added for Friday afternoon. Registration deadline is January 10, 2020 at $6 per person per contest. Late registration is $10 per person per contest.
LEWIS & CLARK COUNTY 4-H SHOOTING SPORTS INVITATIONAL
This invitational will take place in Helena, MT on January 18, 2020. Events include archery, air rifle and 3D. T-Shirts will be made on location for $15. If you are interested in this event contact your 4-H Archery leader, for JB County this is Mike Bossen.
2020 CASCADE COUNTY 4-H ARCHERY SHOOTING SPORTS POSTAL TOURNAMENT
Entries must be received by January 13, 2020. If you are interested in this shoot please contact Mike Bossen.
MARIAS FAIR 4-H ARCHERY TOURNAMENT
This will be on January 25-26, 2020 in Shelby, MT. There will be a limited shoot (20 people) on Saturday January 25, 2020. The remainder of the shoot will be on Sunday. The entry fee is $10 per discipline per child. Entry deadline is January 17, 2020. Please contact Mike Bossen if you are interested in this shoot.
MONTANA 4-H FOUNDATION GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS
There are several grants and scholarships available through the Montana 4-H Foundation. There are different due dates for these ranging from February 1, 2020 to April 1, 2020. People Partner Grant and
AMTOPP Scholarship for Montana 4-H Youth are due February 1, 2020. Montana 4-H collegiate Scholarship is due April 1, 2020. Check out the web site to see if you qualify. You will find more information and applications at http://montana4h.org/programs/grants/scholarships.html
