Reid Hall Third Floor Mural – Kayte Kasminski

  1. The updated mural was presented to PAAC and members appreciated and approved of the changes made to the previous version
  2. The next step for the project is to get bids from wrap companies
  3. The target installation is winter of 2020
  4. Action Item: PAAC to vote over email on approval of this project. The approval of theR eid Hall Third Floor Mural is contingent on the mural adhering to the UFPB Wall Wrap Standards
    1. The Vote: “Please review the design for the Reid Hall Third Floor Mural and respond to me with your vote to approve or deny the project. The approval from PAAC is conditional on the project adhering to the UFPB Wall Wrap Standards.”
  5. Action Item: Present the Reid Hall Third Floor Mural to UFPB as an informational item

Romney Art Selection Update – Courtney Johnson & Grant Petersen

  1. The Montana Arts Council (MAC) is managing the Romney Hall project and determines the process for selecting art
  2. The final choice of art will be determined by three voting members
  3. Courtney Johnson will be the voting member representing MSU on this committee
  4. Final selection will occur in January and February 2021
  5. Timeline:
    1. The guiding principles and intent provided by PAAC in March will be used to help narrow the selection
    2. Discuss in December how PAAC wants to inform and help determine the selection
    3. Update in January on the number of submissions received
    4. PAAC will be consulted to provide feedback in February once all submissions have been received to help determine final selection
  6. The details for the Romney art selection process can be viewed on the Montana Arts Council Percent for Art website

Current Art Projects Updates

  1. Wellness Center
    1. The Wellness Center has a $250,000 budget for art
    2. The PAAC should begin working on artist selection, specifically for the interior of the Wellness Center
  2. Bobcat Athletic Complex
    1. Ivan Navarro is to be contracted
  3. Action Item: PAAC to reach out to potential artists to work with on the interior Wellness Center spaces
  4. Action Item: Committee to decide if they want to do a call for proposals or directly select individual artists
  5. Action Item: Jaclyn Liebscher to get Ivan Navarro on contract for the Bobcat Athletic Complex
  6. Action Item: PAAC to continue work on the Call for Artists document and PAAC Mission Statements

1% for Art Policy

  1. The 1% for Art policy has been recommended for approval by President Cruzado
  2. All projects greater than $150,000 will include 1% for art in the budget
  3. This amount for art will be capped at $250,000 per project
  4. The 1% for Art policy will need to be incorporated into the official Public Art & Artifacts policy
  5. Aiming for a final March or April adoption by MSU of the new policy
  6. Action Item: John How to update the PAAC Policy and share with PAAC members

Committee Vacancies/New Members

  1. The PAAC currently has three vacant positions: Museum of the Rockies, Community at Large, and the position previously filled by Laurel Yost
  2. Action Item: Courtney Johnson and Olivia Hayes to determine the process and requirements for filling open positions on the Committee

Introduction to Microsoft Teams, Sharepoint site, Documents and Collaboration Efforts Moving Forward

  1. The committee will be utilizing Sharepoint for communication and collaboration
  2. The target date for going live with the platform is January 2021
  3. Action Item: PAAC to open and explore Sharepoint site to provide insight at December meeting
