Submitted By: VP of Student Success, Steve Swinford

The University is taking a significant and positive step toward enhancing student success by integrating several existing programs into a more unified Student Success division. This reorganization will align key student support units currently housed within the Allen Yarnell Center for Student Success (AYCSS) under a single structure to expand reach, improve coordination, reduce duplication, and create clearer pathways for students seeking support. As part of this organizational change, colleagues currently working within AYCSS have transitioned to new reporting lines under the Vice President for Student Success, with an emphasis on co-locating and consolidating teams for greater efficiency and collaboration. To support this organizational shift, several space reallocations are recommended. The Montana 10 Scholars Program, currently located in Strand Union Building (SUB) room 102, will relocate to the third floor of the SUB, occupying rooms 370, 370A, 370B, and 372—spaces previously vacated by the VOICE Center. With this move, room 370 may also be used to relieve spatial pressures in the AYCSS main suite by hosting programs such as Return to Learn, Montana’s Own, and 1893, while room 372 will serve as a consultation and peer-mentoring area for student meetings and advising. Once Montana 10 transitions to the third floor, SUB 102 will be repurposed to accommodate staff relocating from Culbertson Hall in addition to other student success personnel. This consolidation will allow all supporting staff currently housed in Culbertson Hall to move into the SUB, thereby creating vacancies in Culbertson rooms 200A, 335, 337, and 338. Additionally, Dr. Carina Beck, Associate Vice President for University Initiatives, will relocate to rooms 163 and 163A in American Indian Hall, resulting in a vacancy in SUB room 134. As part of these reallocations, the combined vacancies created in Culbertson Hall 200A, 335, 337, 338 and Strand Union Building 134 total 1,218 square feet, which can be reassigned to meet other institutional priorities.
