Updates:

Broadened the suggested majors and careers

Clifton Strength Finders (in conjunction with Gallatin College)

From Karen Dove:

Can be a huge advantage for students generally considered underserved

  • Question from Tony C.

Cost for students?

~$40 per student, but licenses are purchased in bulk and fees can be waived

Other institutions make it part of orientation, we'd love to work toward that

  • Question from Kate E.

Is there a difference in results from students taking it as they enroll vs. a few years down the line?

~In general, results might be the same (strengths), but career suggestions might change

  • Question from Betsy A.

If you go to the training, can you administrate and interpret the results for a student?

~Yes!

**Certification helps you interpret the results for the students (especially in the Clifton Strengths survey)

  • Question from Katie G:

How often is the cost waived?

~Pretty much…everyone who asks pretty much gets a waiver

  • **Shan will send out slides to Directors!

CARE Referrals: Amber, Kate, and Alli

  • Amber: Asst. Dean, Care/Bit and Fraternities
  • Kate: Asst. Dean, Care/Bit
  • Alli: Asst. Dean, Care/Bit

  • Students who might need support - might be high-risk (BIT), but the majority is preventative (CARE)
    • Fall - homesickness, breakups, adjusting to college, housing
    • 1/3 of referrals come from housing (yay, thank you RA and RD staff!)
    • 1/3 from faculty
    • 1/3 from staff
    • And some from parents/family/employers, etc.
    • CLICK THE STUDENT BUTTON - the employee one goes to HR, ONLY for employees, not student employees
  • Alli: Form
    • If submitted after hours and it's an emergency, info is at the top
    • If you don't have all of the info, that's okay - biggest thing is WHY you are reporting
    • You can choose "no assistance needed" - maybe you just want the student on our radar and a dean will reach out to you to follow up
    • The report can stay confidential (retaliation worries, etc.)
    • Most of the time, it's not REQUIRED for a student to come in (highly encouraged)
    • UNLESS it's a high risk (might be BIT - Behavioral Intervention Team)
  • Kate: Follow ups
    • Huge effort to reach out to the reporting party for updates to help with overall support
  • Kate: Assessment goals for DOS (update) - survey!
    • Feedback is part of their assessment goals for the year, so please fill it out
    • DOS Staff hands this out at the end of their presentations (about 12 a year)
    •
