The GRIT Grant is designed to help students facing financial obstacles hindering their ability to stay in school and graduate. Examples of financial obstacles include:

Nomination Criteria:
  • Undergraduate student in their junior/senior year (approximately 45 or less credit hours to degree completion);
  • Graduate student;
  • Preference for a Montana resident; and/or
  • Preference for demonstrated financial need.

In the questions below, please describe the obstacles the student is facing that have led to their financial hardship and how receiving a GRIT Grant would aid in the student remaining enrolled and/or graduating from Montana State University. The average award amount from the GRIT Grant is $2,000.
