Liz and Karen Hickey

Karen recently attended the 43rd annual Founders’ Day award ceremony to watch her daughter, Elizabeth Hickey, receive the same excellence award she had won 32 years prior. Karen described the event as a “full circle” moment, particularly because her professor (and nominator) was also in attendance, as they both watched Liz receive the prestigious award at MSU. Liz was honored to be recognized alongside previous winners like her mother and expressed that one of the reasons for her success is that she comes from a line of strong women.

Dr. Marcie Reuer and Dr. Joe Hicks had the pleasure of taking our rural practicum students to Glasgow, Frazer, Nashua and Hinsdale.  The students did an incredible job in the schools.  While we were in Glasgow, Dr. Joe Hicks and two of our students were interviewed by KLTZ (“kilts” as an homage to the town’s namesake).  Elizabeth Hickey and Pace Becker did an incredible job, and we could not be more proud of how they represented MSU and the profession of teaching as a wholeListen Here:The student stories are in the second half of the recording and are worth a listen.
