International Group Chatting

The Bozeman Friends of International Students (BFIS) program is a program through the Office of International Programs at MSU that connects our international students with Gallatin Valley community members.

International students benefit exponentially from having an American family during their stay, allowing them to better integrate, learn the culture and share a deeper connection with Bozeman, Montana and the U.S. In turn, families that participate in the program get the benefit of interacting with dynamic and impressionable students from around the world.

There are no fees or obligations ... everything is flexible and intended to be fun. MSU’s Office of International Programs works to pair students with BFIS families based upon shared interests and personalities. We prefer to match BFISers prior to the students' initial arrival to Bozeman to allow the BFIS family the opportunity to pick their student up from the airport and make that warm, welcoming first impression and establish a connection straight away. This is not a requirement for BFIS family participation, but it is preferred.

Our vision is for families to have their students over for dinner, invite them to local attractions or even host them during holiday breaks. The time commitment is your choice and the creativity is endless.
