Engagement Events are an important part of MSU Debut. This series of events equips you for a successful transition to Montana State University, empowers you to contribute to the Bobcat community, and fosters inclusion, integrity, and belonging.

 

Welcome New and Returning Bobcats!

Sunday, August 23  

  • Food Truck Rodeo with live music, 6:00-8:00 pm, Romney Oval 
    • Kick off your MSU experience with great food, live music, and a chance to connect with fellow Bobcats. Relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and meet new friends before the semester begins.

Tuesday, August 25- Engagement events include:   

  • First Year Student Kickoff - 5:00-7:00pm
    • During this special event, you will participate in the iconic M Photo, share a meal with your classmates, and hear from President Tessman, fellow students, and ASMSU student leaders explore this year's Common Read, Being Wrong by Kathryn Schulz 

Wednesday, August 26 - Engagement events include:   

  • First Day of School Welcome Tents – 8:00 – 11:00 am, various locations across campus 
    • Stop by a welcome tent on your way to class for campus resources, friendly faces, and a warm first-day greeting. Staff and student leaders will be available to help you start the semester with confidence.
  • Presidents Ice Cream Social – 11:00-12:30 pm, Central Malone Mall  
    • Enjoy a free ice cream while meeting university leaders and fellow students. This long-standing MSU tradition is a sweet way to celebrate the first day of classes

Thursday, August 27- Engagement events include:   

  • Bozeman BLOC Party - 4PM-7PM, Story Mansion Park
    • Explore the Bozeman community at this annual festival featuring local organizations, entertainment, and opportunities to get involved. Learn how to connect with the people, places, and causes that make Bozeman unique.

Friday, August 28- Engagement events include:   

  • Catapalooza – 10:00-3:00 pm, Malone Mall and Romney Oval  
    • Discover the hundreds of clubs, organizations, departments, and resources that make up the Bobcat experience. Whether you're looking for leadership opportunities, recreation, service, or community, you'll find your place here.
  • MSU Debut Concert – 7:00 – 9:00 pm, Romney Oval 
    • Celebrate the start of the academic year with an evening of live entertainment alongside your fellow Bobcats. Bring your friends and enjoy one of MSU Debut's signature events.

Saturday, August 29 – Service events include:   

  • Bobcats Give Back – 10:00-4:00 pm, various locations around Bozeman  
    • Join fellow students in giving back to the Bozeman community through meaningful service projects with local nonprofit partners. Make a positive impact, build connections, and begin your MSU experience through service.

Sunday, August 30 – Traditions event: 

  • Rock’n the M – 10:00 – 2:00 pm, Bridger Foothills Trailhead  
    • Take part in one of MSU's most beloved traditions as you hike to and repaint the "M" overlooking Bozeman. Meet new friends, show your Bobcat spirit, and take part in a tradition over 100 years old!
