eduroam (education roaming) is a secure wireless network that is available to participating universities and institutions in the United States and abroad. It allows traveling MSU students, faculty, and staff to securely connect to the Internet at any institution that is an eduroam member.

Additionally, visitors from other eduroam institutions can securely access the Internet while at MSU, using credentials specified by their own institution.

When do I use eduroam?

Traveling MSU faculty, staff, and students use eduroam when visiting other eduroam-enabled institutions. Access the eduroam network using your MSU Net ID and password.

Configure the eduroam connection on your device before traveling so that you can test the connection.

How do I connect to eduroam?

Access eduroam using your MSU NetID and NetID password. 
To connect:

  1. Choose eduroam from the list of available networks.
  2. Enter NetID@msu.montana.edu in the Username field.
    For example: A22B333@msu.montana.edu
  3. Enter your NetID password in the Password field.

How do I configure my device to use eduroam?

eduroam configuration settings
Wireless Network Name (SSID): eduroam
NetID: MSU NetID (for example, a33c456)
Password: NetID password
Wireless Security Type: WPA2-Enterprise (802.1X/EAP)
EAP Type: PEAP
Authentication protocol: MS-CHAP-V2
Validate Server Certificate: Trusted Root CA
