Baucus Leaders DC

The Baucus Leaders DC Program offers full-time summer internships in Washington, D.C. for current undergraduate and graduate students attending Montana-based colleges and universities. Interns receive a $5,000 stipend to help cover travel, housing, and living expenses. The program runs from early June to early August and includes access to optional discounted group housing. Applications for Summer 2026 open in October 2025 and are due by Friday, January 23, 2026. Students must be in good academic standing and enrolled full-time during the spring semester. Applicants from BIPOC, LGBTQ+2S, and under-resourced communities are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Climate Scholars Program offers internship opportunities for current undergraduate and graduate students attending Montana-based colleges and universities who are passionate about environmental policy and climate issues. Scholars are selected based on academic performance, public service commitment, and interest in climate-related work. Applicants must be in good academic standing and enrolled full-time during the spring semester before their internship. Center for Land Surface Hazards Postions 

The Center for Land Surface Hazards (CLaSH) is opening multiple student and post-doc positions for the 2026–2027 academic year. Participants will join a dynamic, interdisciplinary cohort and engage in CLaSH activities alongside faculty, researchers, and peers from across the Center. Costal Hazard Program (Geologist 1, 2, & 3)

The team selected for these positions will help with the development of interdisciplinary and interagency collaborative coastal research projects and participate in field investigations in remote Alaska Native communities. NASA's Applied Sciences' Capacity Building DEVELOP 

DEVELOP projects apply Earth observations and remote-sensing technology to application areas that highlight NASA Earth observation capabilities relative to environmental issues for enhanced policy and decision making.

Anyone 18 and over, who is interested in pursuing experience in Earth sciences and remote sensing, is welcome to apply.
