Certified Family Forest logo is framed by the words: wood, water, recreation, and wildlife. This past year has seen a whirlwind of fun Tree Farm Tours and meetings across the state. The program still has a great capacity for honoring the hard work and stewardship efforts of so many landowners throughout Montana. I had the pleasure of sipping some hot coffee with Irish Creme at Ed and Christy Ferruzzi’s home last month. We accidentally spelled their name with only one ‘R’ on the sign when we awarded it in September at the Annual Fall meeting.

Marshall Mountain Woodworks hand-carved the sign on a Douglas-fir slab from F.H. Stoltze Land and Lumber Company, and they were able to fix the sign so we could present it again… spelled the proper way. Our apologies to the Ferruzzis. You have a great piece of forest land, and we want to honor that. Please read about their Tree Farm in this issue; the story was written by Mike Justus, a retired DNRC service forester from Lincoln County.

Keep up all the good work and help us nominate great Tree Farmers in Montana so we can continue to recognize them at our annual meetings.
